Additional charges have been added against a man police say bit off a Grand Strand mother’s nose outside a Murrells Inlet bar.

According to the Horry County Sheriff’s website, Christopher Brian Campbell has now been charged with attempted murder, resisting arrest, oppose, resist, or assault of a law enforcement officer serving process, forgery less than $10,000, financial transaction card theft, as well as the original charge of criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.

According to the incident report, Campbell, age 39, attacked Michelle Messer outside of the Sandy Monkey Bar the afternoon of Sunday February 8th.

The report says responding officers withdrew their “department issued firearm” and pointed it at Campbell when he would not stop.

The portion of the police report after it states officer’s withdrew their firearm has been redacted. The report continues again saying Campbell was Tazed by police.

The report says officers asked Campbell if he had a gun, the report states Campbell responded with “if he had a gun he would have put a bullet in my [the officer’s] forehead as I pulled up,”.

In an interview with News13 Messer, the victim of the attack, she says Campbell stole her credit card that night and paid his tab with it.

Messer, age 35, told News 13 she was outraged Campbell only originally received a charge of criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature.

During the attack, Messer said the suspect threatened to kill her after he announced he had bitten her nose.

“He said ‘I bit your nose off.’ He said ‘I have to kill you’,” Messer told WBTW.

Messer has two young children and lived with Campbell for several months before breaking up with him weeks before the attack, she says.

Calls and voicemails to the Horry County Sheriff’s Office on the reason for Campbell’s additional charges were not immediately returned.
