Associates of accused Charleston church shooter may face charges

According to ‘The State’ newspaper in Columbia, authorities from both state and federal departments are now looking into Dylann Roof’s known associates for potentially knowing about and allowing the shooting to happen in Charleston.

Dylann Roof stands accused of killing nine members of the Emanuel AME church in Charleston, SC June 17.

Sources that were not identified by ‘The State’ because they were not allowed to speak publicly about the investigation say that it is possible there are people who knew about the planned attack, even though evidence shows Roof traveled alone before and after the shooting.

The report also says possible charges that could be brought on from this investigation could include misprision of information, which means knowing about a planned attack and not reporting the information to authorities, and also lying to a federal officer.

There have been no known arrests or charges placed on any of those associates at this time.
