Coastal Carolina University announced on Wednesday that storms forecast for the end of this week will mean some changes to the school’s 4 graduation ceremonies on Friday and Saturday.
The school is calling it the “Severe Weather Commencement Plan” as a weather system is expected to bring winds and rain to the region. (Click to see the forecast)
The graduation ceremonies were previously planned on the newly installed “Teal Turf” of Brooks Stadium.
But now, it appears all events have been moved indoors.
Here is the updated info from CCU:
Four separate ceremonies will be held at the HTC Student Recreation and Convocation Center, located at 104 Founders Drive on the CCU campus.
The degree groups will be honored at the following dates and times:
Friday, May 8
2 p.m. Ceremony – Doors open and student line-up begins at 1 p.m.
Graduate and Undergraduate: E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration
6 p.m. Ceremony – Doors open and student line-up begins at 5 p.m.
Graduate and Undergraduate: College of Science
Saturday, May 9
8:30 a.m. Ceremony – Doors open and student line-up begins at 7:30 a.m.
Graduate and Undergraduate: Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts and University College
12:30 p.m. Ceremony – Doors open and student line-up begins at 11:30 a.m.
Graduate and Undergraduate: Spadoni College of Education
Commencement speaker Michael J. Gerson will speak only at the 8:30 a.m. ceremony on Saturday.
The same general admission ticket for Brooks Stadium will serve as the severe weather plan ticket for the HTC Center. The severe weather plan ticket can only be used during the college ceremony specified on the ticket.
Meanwhile, a live feed of the ceremony will be screened in Wheelwright Auditorium, located at 108 Spadoni Park Circle on the CCU campus.
Senior Celebration has been moved to the Alford Ballroom located inside the Atheneum Hall Alumni Center .
