GEORGETOWN, SC (WBTW)- Deputies with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office say they’ve arrested a male for killing one homeless man and beating and robbing another near Murrells Inlet earlier this month.
The press release from the sheriff’s office says 38-year-old Markey Terrill Faulkner was arrested Friday in Myrtle Beach and charged with murder, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, two counts of armed robbery and two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
On Sunday, deputies responded to a call about a deceased male in a homeless camp. The report from deputies says they were dispatched after a bloody man with injuries to his head showed up at Harvest Church. The victim’s eyes were reportedly swollen shut and he had dried blood on his face. Before he was taken to the hospital, he told deputies he had been robbed and pistol whipped. Before officials arrived, he told a woman at the church that there was another person back at the homeless camp that was cold to the touch.
When investigators arrived to the homeless camp, a Murrells Inlet Garden City Fire worker pulled deputies aside and informed them there was a deceased person in one of the tents. Animal control was called in to remove a dog in the tent “who was protecting the body,” the report states.
The person inside the tent was wearing nothing but a pair of jeans and socks. There was no blood in the tent. According to the report, the deceased victim had “obvious injuries to the head and face area” and a cut on his head. A second tent nearby had what appeared to be blood inside and around the tent.
On Monday, Chase Ridgeway with the Georgetown County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Ralph Seitz III. The victim’s cause of death has not been released.
