LUMBERTON, NC (WBTW) – The Lumberton Police Department has made an arrest in a number of break-ins to homes where numerous items were stolen.
Captain Terry W. Parker says JC Chavis, 53, of Fairmont, was taken into custody Monday evening by the Pembroke Police Department for numerous warrants related to breaking and entering and larceny charges.
Chavis was cruising Lumberton neighborhoods in a tan van looking for property to steal, says Cpt. Parker. He has reportedly been seen driving slow in areas and even backing up after passing some homes.
Chavis is charged with five counts of felony breaking and entering, four counts of felony larceny and eight misdemeanor larcenies. His bond was set at $62,000 and Chavis is being held in the Robeson County Detention Center.
Police did not note whether any of the stolen items had been recovered.
