Arrest made after accelerant used to burn Kingstree home

KINGSTREE, SC (WBTW) – A Kingstree woman is charged with arson after bottles of accelerant were found throughout a home destroyed by a fire in Williamsburg County Friday evening.

Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Alex Edwards says firefirghters responded to a home on James Clyburn Boulevard in Kingstree Friday to discover the house engulfed in flames. According to Investigators, the fire started in the living room closet. Investigators discovered bottles of accelerant in different areas of the home and determined those accelerants were used to start the fire, confirms Edwards.

Deputies arrested Wendy Renada Grant, 36, of Kingstree, in connection with the fire and charged her with one count of arson third degree. Grant’s bond was set at $10,000, according to Edwards.

The investigation into the fire is ongoing, adds Edwards.
