MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Myrtle Beach police say a woman wanted for an armed robbery that occurred in April has been tied to Wednesday’s shooting that was caught on video.

A press release from Captain Joey Crosby says officers arrested Brittany Mullinax, 24, of North Myrtle Beach, around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night on a warrant for armed robbery. The armed robbery happened April 4 and police say that crime was the motive behind the shooting that occurred on 15th Avenue South Wednesday around 2 p.m.

Officers say Mullinax was at the shooting on 15th Avenue South in Myrtle Beach Wednesday, but “was not an active participant.” Officers say the suspected gunman is Ryan Douglas Ralston, 40. A photo of Ralston carrying a pink bag immediately after the shooting was released by police. He is wanted for attempted murder.

Capt. Crosby says officers found Mullinax Wednesday night because of a notification from the city’s license plate readers. Officers found Mullinax’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Inside her car, officers found the pink Victoria’s Secret bag that Ralston was pictured carrying after the shooting.

While specific details were not released, police say the motive for Wednesday’s shooting stems from the April armed robbery, in which both crimes targeted the same victim.

Officers continue to search for Ralston. The Myrtle Beach Police Department asks anyone with information about Ralston to call the police station at 843.918.1382.

Police say additional warrants are being sought for Mullinax, and she will appear before a judge Thursday afternoon.
