Counties and cities across South Carolina have released overnight curfews Saturday to keep people off the roads and allow emergency workers to survey the damage left in the wake of Hurricane Matthew.
A curfew is in effect for the City of Myrtle Beach from 6 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday. The city also is asking people not to re-enter the City of Myrtle Beach until 12 p.m., Sunday, October 9.
The Town of Surfside Beach has issued an executive order establishing a nighttime curfew. The curfew starts Saturday at 7 p.m. and ends Sunday at 7 a.m.
A curfew has been imposed in all areas of Georgetown County beginning tonight. This includes the City of Georgetown, the Town of Pawleys Island and the Town of Andrews, in addition to unincorporated areas of the county.Residents should remain indoors between the hours of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m., except for a medical emergency or in cases where it is necessary to travel to work.
Horry County has instituted a curfew for the unincorporated areas of the county from 6 p.m. this evening until 6 a.m. Sunday morning and again Sunday, October 9 from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m.
Marion County has instituted a curfew from 6 p.m. today until 6 a.m. tomorrow, October 9, due to the potential safety concerns posed in Marion County.
A Darlington County curfew is in effect from 7 pm Saturday until 7 am Sunday. It will be county-wide, including inside the City of Hartsville, to allow emergency services time to begin damage assessment and work on hazard cleanup.

The curfews prohibit non-essential and emergency travel. Vehicular and pedestrian traffic will be monitored and stopped where necessary. Many areas ask that residents should make sure to take ID, proof of residency and in cases in which a resident is traveling to work, proof of employment.
