GEORGETOWN (WBTW) – A group calling itself “Stop Oil Drilling in the Atlantic Ocean-Prevent Oil Pollution,” or “SODA-POP,” will host its second public forum Wednesday night in Litchfield Beach. The group hopes to share ideas and hear from residents about ways to get out the word about the dangers of off-shore drilling and seismic testing in the Southern Atlantic Ocean.
“We invite citizens from Georgetown and Horry Counties, and others interested in this issue, to join us in planning and participating in upcoming events designed to create awareness of the potential for oil drilling damage and to persuade government representatives to reverse their decision,” wrote members of the group in a press release.
The meeting will be Wednesday, June 17, at 6:00 p.m. at the Waccamaw Neck Branch Library Auditorium. That is located at 41 St. Paul Place, off Willbrook Boulevard in Litchfield Beach.
