AMERICUS, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announces it is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a man accused of shooting two officers Wednesday morning.

GBI Public Affairs Director Nelly Miles says in a Thursday press release multiple law enforcement agencies are adding to the reward offered for suspect 32-year-old Minquell Kennedy Lembrick’s arrest. The reward amount was last set at $30,000 as of late Wednesday night.

As News 3 reported, Lembrick is still on the run after he allegedly shot two officers responding to a domestic disturbance call at the Country Club Apartments complex.

Americus Police Chief Mark Scott says police department officer Nicolas Smarr and Georgia Southwestern State University campus security officer Jody Smith were called to the apartments at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Scott says the officers met Lembrick who then began shooting. Officer Smarr died shortly afterwards and Officer Smith remains in critical condition.
