AUSTIN, TX— America’s oldest living veteran celebrated his 110th birthday Wednesday in Austin.
Richard Overton served in the Army during World War II and is a decorated veteran. He fought on the Japanese islands of Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
He’s even lived through 19 presidents.
Overton spent the day celebrating at his house in East Austin with friends and family, even strangers that popped by to say “happy birthday.”
“He’s been out here since about 10 o’clock,” friend Donna Shorts said. “People have been coming through all day, but at 110 years old, I think he deserves that.”
Overton tells us his secret to living to be 110 years old: he enjoys whiskey, cigars and milk.
