MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) — The American Red Cross says its in urgent need of donations. In an emergency call for blood and plateletes in Myrtle Beach, the Red Cross says hospitals are using blood products faster than donations are coming in. Nick Gehrig, Communications Director with Red Cross Blood Services, says donations have fallen short of hospital needs for the past few months, by about 39,000 donations. He says the drop in donations is likely because many regular donors are traveling this time of year.
