This is the third alligator found in the surf or near the beach in June.

During late spring and early summer smaller alligators often become caught in the strong currents in the upper reaches of the Cooper and Wando Rivers ultimately finding their way ashore on Sullivan’s Island.

So far this year in the tri-county region, DNR issued 20 permits for the removal from alligators from public areas such as subdivisions or on the beach.

Another two permits have been issued for removal from private ponds.
