CHARLESTON, S.C. – Admitted Charleston church shooter Dylann Roof requested to be in court as lawyers start to pick a jury on Monday.
Jury selection for Dylann Roof’s Federal case starts Monday, September 26th. The court summoned 3,000 people specifically from Charleston and Beaufort counties and lawyers will narrow it down to 12 jurors with alternates. They will be the people to decide Dylann Roof’s fate for his 33 Federal charges including hate crimes.
Court representatives tell us that starting Monday, lawyers will ask potential jurors a set of basic questions and those who pass will then fill out a more detailed questionnaire. The judge expects it will take 2-3 weeks to choose the final set of jurors.
