As part of Spring Safety Week, Sonoco, along with the City of Hartsville Police and Fire Departments, Allied Barton Security Services, Coker College and the S.C. Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics, sponsored an Active Shooter presentation Wednesday.
It happened in The Watson Theater on the Coker College campus.
The purpose of this event was to educate the community on how to prevent and respond in case of an active shooter situation.
Kristina Anderson, one of the 17 students wounded during the Virginia Tech shooting on April 16, 2007 spoke to the group about her experience during the tragedy.
In 2007, Seung-Hui Cho, 23 killed 32 people on the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University campus in Blacksburg, Virginia, before taking his own life.
In addition, Special Agent J. Robert Chadwick from the Federal Bureau of Investigation also presented on awareness and response.
