Tristan Altman is a second grader from Delmae Heights Elementary school who has dedicated his time to help the environment and community, thanks to bee keeping.
Altman started bee keeping back in January, by helping his science teacher pull medicine strips out of the bees.
“My science teacher started talking about it, and that got me interested,” said Altman.
Tristan later joined the 4-H club, which helps students learn stewardship and life skills. The 4-H program stands for heart, hands, head, and help.
The second grader had 3 goals when he started bee keeping, and so far, he has been able to achieve them all in just a couple of months.
Tristan also says his efforts wouldn’t be possible without his science teacher and parents.
“Not only has he taught, but he took a hive of bees into a day care and taught a lesson on bees and observation hives,” said his science teacher, Debbie Chapman.
Altman has written a book that will be available in the school library.
He hopes other kids will get involved and learn how bees help the environment.
