MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) If you go see the new Cirque Extreme show at the Palace Theatre in Myrtle Beach you will be quickly introduced to the Espana family.

Noe is a fifth generation circus performer while Vivien is seventh generation. In fact her father performed on the Ed Sullivan show in the 1950’s with an act she now performs in today’s show.

Two decades ago the pair found themselves working together on the same show.

“We were trying to stay away from each other but in the end we both lose,” Noe said of the budding relationship.

That plan to stay apart turned into “I do’s” and a marriage that is about to reach 20 years.

“We had two weddings,”  Vivien said. “We had the church wedding and then of course we had a huge circus wedding. During the show they stopped the show and they married us inside the ring.”

Marriage experts will tell you that trust is one of the key elements to success.

This trust in this marriage is part of the bond that holds this couple together all while bringing out the best oooohs and aahhs from the Palace Theatre audience.

“It’s a blessing to do something you love and to be able to do it with someone you love is great,” Vivien said.

Noe grew up in a family of flying trapeze artists. He says the boys in the family were a little more daring and decided to try out a motorcycle trick

“I would see those bikes riding around and I would say that’s crazy I would never do that,” Noe said of the early moments of looking at the act.

He took it as a challenge and began to practice what he has now perfected

“You gotta have the guts,” Noe said of riding motorcycles in a globe cage.

His repertoire for producing jaw dropping moments is wide in the Cirque Extreme show.  He also performs in what he calls the “Wheel of Destiny”.

“A lot of times hearing the audience making those woos and wows it excites you. It gives you more adrenaline,” Noe said.

20 years and hundreds and thousands of shows later the Noe and Vivien are still madly in love with the person they also call their best friend.

“We don’t go to work, we live everyday doing what we love to do,” Noe said.

“My heart does like this every day when I watch him,” Vivien says of her anxiousness on the side of the stage each night watching her husband. “I am always kind of fighting to see him.”

Watching on the side or in the middle of the chaos or cage.

“I trust my husband and my partners,” Vivien said “I have total trust in them so I go in the cage.”

That trust and devotion has kept this circus marriage in the spotlight of the stage and of true love.
