GALIVANTS FERRY, SC (WBTW) – An 81-year-old man shot his son in the Galivants Ferry area, a police report says.
Officers responded to the area of Truluck Johnson Rd. around 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday for a possible shooting incident, a report from the Horry County Police Department said. Upon arriving, officers reportedly saw a person in the back yard. While making their way to the back yard, police say the suspect exited the home.
As the suspect was being taken into custody, a female reportedly exited the home requesting an ambulance, according to the report. She reportedly stated the suspect was the victim’s father and that he had shot the victim, who the report said is her husband.
The report lists the suspect as 81-year-old Charles Woodrow Johnson, Sr.
According to J. Reuben Long Detention Center booking records, Johnson is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was booked around 10:54 a.m. on Tuesday and remains in the center as of 3 p.m. Wednesday. No bail has been set.
