8 p.m. curfew in effect for all parts of Georgetown County

GEORGETOWN, SC (WBTW) – Due to widespread power outages, dangerous road conditions and other safety concerns, a curfew has been imposed in all areas of Georgetown County beginning tonight. This includes the City of Georgetown, the Town of Pawleys Island and the Town of Andrews, in addition to unincorporated areas of the county.

Residents should remain indoors between the hours of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m., except for a medical emergency or in cases where it is necessary to travel to work. All residents should make sure to take ID, proof of residency and in cases in which a resident is traveling to work, proof of employment. There will be an increased law enforcement presence and residents in violation of the curfew will be stopped.

The curfew will be in effect until further notice.
