MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – 73-year-old, Fran Grzelak, was attacked inside a Myrtle Beach parking garage around 8:45 a.m. on Sunday. She was getting out of her car at the Hilton Grand Vacations parking garage when a man yelled at her on the fourth floor.

“This man yelled across the room that I could not park there and I said, ‘I have to park here this is where I park’ and he said, ‘No, we’re going to have people come in and they need all those parking spots,'” said Grzelak.

As he was talking to Grzelak, she said he began to walk closer.

“And I thought, you know what, I feel kind of eerie about this man I think I better get in the car and leave,” she said. I went to get in my car and he came running up behind me and pushed me in the car and jumped on me and told me he was going to kill me if I didn’t stop screaming because that’s all I did was scream.”

Grzelak said he didn’t stop until she called out for her husband, who passed away ten years ago.

“I said, ‘I think I see my husband, here’s my husband,’ and he got scared, jumped up, punched me in the stomach and took off and ran down the stairs,” she added. Grzelak said she’s not sure why she yelled to her deceased husband, but she thinks he saved her life.

“I think he saved me. Honestly, I really feel that he came to save me,” she added. Grzelak was transported to Grand Strand Hospital because of her injuries.

“I hope no one else goes through this terrible experience I went through,” said Grzelak, whose son, Mark Grzelak, came to the hospital as soon as he heard what happened.

“You wouldn’t think at 8:30 in the morning that your mom is going to get beat up in a parking lot,” said Mark Grzelak. “It’s very upsetting and if anything every happened to my mom I don’t know what I would do.”The suspect is described as a black male, 5’9” tall, clean shaven with short hair and was wearing a navy blue shirt with khaki pants. The Grzelak’s hope the suspect will be caught and hope the hotel will invest in more security cameras around the parking garage.
