MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – It’s been 6 months since Mae Davis was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Myrtle Beach Mall and her family is still dealing with the loss.
It happened one day before her 79th birthday, in broad daylight.
Davis’ daughters, Michele Gagne and Shelly Wells said despite the passing of time, they are still struggling with the loss.
They’ve kept her room the same and planted a garden in the backyard, in her memory.
Gagne and Wells are seeing faith-based counseling, but say they still have sleepless nights and trouble with crowds.
“You’re looking over shoulder when your going to the store. You’re careful where you park your car, you’re looking over your surroundings when you get out of your car, she can’t even go out by herself,” said Wells.
Police say there are no updates in the case and no suspects have been named.
The AFT is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and Davis’ family has pledged to match that amount, for a total of $20,000.
Her daughters have mailed out 5,000 postcards, sent out 30,000 flyers in coupon booklets; and put up posters at convenience stores all with the hopes that a tip will come in.
“If this person was found and put in jail, I think it would relieve some of the… I kind of feel like I would feel safe,” said Wells.
