49 arrested in NC drug investigation

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – A month-long narcotics investigation in Rocky Mount resulted in the arrest of 49 people and more than 134 charges, officials said Thursday.

Arrests in the investigation, named Operation Blue Heat, began early July 12.

Law enforcement focused on the apprehension of those with outstanding warrants or who sold narcotics to undercover agents.

The arrest phase resulted in the seizure of seven illegal firearms.

“The fact that these 49 people are off the street today, there will be people to follow them. We will be out searching for those individuals, getting narcotics buys from them and arresting them too,” said Rocky Mount Police Chief James Moore

Suspects between the ages of 13 and 55 were arrested in the operation.
