NASHVILLE, NC — A coalition of law enforcement offices formed a task force which started Operation Dismantle this week where 40 people were arrested on various charges.

Beginning Monday morning, the Tar River Regional Drug Task Force started rounding up 40 people many of which officials say are engaged in the illegal distribution and sales of heroin, cocaine and other controlled substances.

The operation was carried out by the Nash County Sheriff’s Office, Nashville Police Department, Spring Hope Police Department, Tarboro Police Department, N.C. Probation and Parole, N.C. SBI, N.C. ALE, and the Drug Enforcement Administration

“We will continue to proactively address the gun, gang and drug issue to include heroin, cocaine, and other controlled substances all which are negatively affecting and putting our children and youth in our community at risk,” said Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone.

Many of the charges revolve around trafficking drugs and selling/distributing heroin, cocaine and marijuana although there are some other related charges including breaking and entering and prostitution.

Most of those arrested were from Rocky Mount and Nash County, but there were people arrested from Wake County and Franklin County.
