DARLINGTON, SC (WBTW) – A child is dead after an early morning crash in Darlington County.
It happened around 8:15 Thursday morning at the intersection of U.S. 15 and Leavenworth Road in Darlington. South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) says the vehicle was traveling north when it ran off the right side of the road. It then overturned and hit a light pole.
According to Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee, four-year-old Cameron Ard was passenger in the vehicle and was killed in the crash.
SCHP believes Ard was restrained with a seat belt, but officials are unsure if the child restrained properly.
The crash is under investigation by Highway Patrol and the Darlington County Coroner’s office.
There are no charges to anyone at this time.
