MANATEE, FL – Manatee County detectives say a 34-year-old woman tried paying someone to have her ex-husband murdered.
Detectives charged Rachael Natalie Leahy with solicitation of premeditated murder. She was arrested Thursday.
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office started investigating Aug. 22 after receiving information Leahy wanted to have her ex, who is 59 years old, killed. During an uncovering operation, Leahy hired an undercover detective to kill her former husband.
She agreed to pay $5,000 for the murder. She’d already handed over $2,500.
Leahy wanted to kill her ex to gain custody of their children, detectives said.
