MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) – A deadly crash has killed one person in Marion County Monday afternoon.
LCpl. Judd Jones, with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, says the wreck happened at 3:10 p.m. on US-501 at Reedy Creek Road.
Jones says a 1986 Ford was traveling north on US-501 when it lost control, went over the median, and struck a 2015 Kia. A 2014 Kia then hit the 2015 Kia.
A passenger in the 1986 Ford was killed, according to Jones. The driver was taken to McLeod Regional with serious injuries.
Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson identified the victim as Joseph Richardson, 22, of Marion.
Six other people were taken to area hospitals for non-life threatening injuries, according to state troopers.
Highway officials have not commented on what may have caused the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
