3 Darlington men booked for drug trafficking after traffic stop

DARLINGTON, SC (WBTW) – Three Darlington men were jailed Friday after officers attempted to stop the 2015 Chevy Equinox they were in and one of the men attempted to run from police.

A press release from the Darlington Police Department says officers stopped a vehicle Friday that had multiple people inside, and one of those occupants jumped out of the vehicle and ran towards Davis Street in Darlington. Officers were able to locate the man in the area of West Broad Street.

Police say three men were arrested as a result of the stop. Devona Donta Taylor, 26, Dontavious Saquan Williams, 25, and Karl Everett Hayes Jr., 22, were all booked into the Darlington County Detention Center. Police say the men all had warrants for trafficking crack cocaine, trafficking powder cocaine, and simple possession of marijuana.

Williams is also charged with driving under suspension and Hayes is charged with open container.
