The Conway Police Department arrested three people for shoplifting and conducted an investigation that connected them to other crimes. 

A press release from the department says 17-year-old Chad Logan Simmons, 17-year-old Aaron Blain Wilson, and 18-year-old Johnathan Alexander Barr were arrested on Wednesday in connection with a shoplifting incident at the Walmart at 2709 Church Street in Conway. 

During an investigation, investigators were able to link them to other crimes in Conway involving assaults and malicious damage caused by shooting BB guns, the release also says. 

Arrest warrants for Simmons and Wilson say both men shot the front windows of the D. Wright Thrift Store with a BB gun on June 18, causing about $1,000 in damages. 

Warrants also say Simmons and Wilson shot the front window of Mrs. Margaret’s Soul Food and Sea Food House with a BB gun on June 16. Damage is estimated around $500. 

Simmons and Wilson were involved in the shooting of a man in the eye with a BB gun on June 10 near Highway 378 and Shady Moss Court, warrants say. The victim lost his eye.

Simmons and Wilson were involved in multiple other shootings on June 10, according to warrants. Both men shot a 12-year-old boy in the back with a BB gun in the area near 9th Avenue and Ridge Street.  The two men also shot a front window of a Zaxby’s restaurant with a BB gun, causing about $600 in damages. Two large pane glass windows of an Advance Auto Parts store were shot with a BB gun, which resulted in about $3,000 in damages. A front window of an Advance Auto Parts store was shot with a BB gun, causing about $1500 in damages. Four front windows of a Verizon store were shot with a BB gun, resulting in about $1,000 in damages. The front window of Jordan’s Performance was shot with a BB gun, causing damages of about $600. An emergency exit door of a Title Max store was shot with BB gun, which resulted in about $400 in damages. 

On June 6, Simmons and Wilson also shot a front window of an Advanced Auto Parts Store with a BB gun, causing about $1,500 in damages.

Between June 6 and June 7, Simmons and Wilson shot two front windows and a door frame at the N2Win Sports store with a BB gun causing about $1,400 in damages. The business also had five front windows and two glass doors shot with a BB gun on June 10, which resulted in about $5,400 in damages.

On May 30, Simmons and Wilson shot three windows of Chop’s Produce with a BB gun. The estimated cost of damage to the business was about $1,000. 

Simmons and Wilson shot the passenger windows of two delivery trucks with a BB gun at the Badcock Home Furnishings Store in Conway on May 2, causing about $400 in damage. 

According to the press release, Simmons and Wilson are each charged with 1 count of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, second degree assault and battery, 14 counts of malicious damage to personal or real property, and one count of shoplifting. Barr is charged with one count of malicious damage to personal or real property and one count of shoplifting. 

J. Reuben Long Detention Center booking records show Simmons was booked on Wednesday shortly before midnight and remains in the center. Wilson was booked around 12:19 a.m. on Thursday and remains in the center. Barr was booked on Wednesday just before midnight and released around 2 p.m. on Thursday.
