Three people were arrested after guns and drugs were found during a traffic stop in Darlington County.
Darlington County Sheriff’s Office deputies stopped the driver of a vehicle on Shuler Street in Darlington around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday for a traffic violation, according to a press release from the DCSO.
“When Deputies approached, they could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle,” said Sheriff Tony Chavis in the release. “Deputies located a loaded 9mm handgun, a loaded .45 caliber handgun with an extended magazine, approximately 40 grams of marijuana, 4 oxycodone pills, several weight scales and approximately $2,500 in cash during a search of the vehicle.”
Three people were arrested:
- De’Antre Lamont Cooks, 21, of Franway Dr. in Darlington
- Tanner Gage Holloman, 18, of Wisteria Cir. in Hartsville
- Shaquise Travon McFarland, 18, of Amewood Rd. in the Lydia Community
All three were charged “with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana within proximity of a school, and possession of a controlled substance,” states the release. Cooks and Holloman also “both face a charge of probation violation related to the incident and have been denied bond by a Darlington County Magistrate.” They remain in the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center. A Darlington County Magistrate set bond at $60,000 for McFarland. He has posted bond and been released.
