Lanes of US 501 were blocked for about an hour after a serious crash with injuries on Monday afternoon.
As traffic crawled in the area for more than an hour after the initial crash at 2:30, another crash was reported in the same area at 3:34 pm.
The first crash happened at 2:30 pm in the 4900 block of US 501, which is just before Gardner Lacy Road. Lanes of 501 headed toward Myrtle Beach were blocked by emergency vehicles until about 3:25 pm.
The second crash was less serious — it appears no one was hurt — however two vehicles were reportedly involved in a wreck at 4769 US 501, which is in front of the Dollar General near Carolina Forest Blvd.
The vehicles were moved off US 501 around 3:40 pm, reports indicate, but traffic is still very slow in the area.
In the first crash, initial reports from the scene indicated a car flipped and someone was entrapped.
