21st Annual Blessing of the Inlet May 6, announcing free bus shuttle

MURRELLS INLET, SC –  On Saturday, May 6, 2017, The Blessing of the Inlet at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church, Highway 17-Business, Murrells Inlet, will celebrate its 21st anniversary from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

The Blessing of the Inlet was first started 21 years ago to create a festival filled with worship, food, fun, family and fellowship that was highlighted by a ‘Blessing’ ceremony, celebrating our Lord’s continued blessings in the Inlet Community.  And the Blessing of the Inlet was to generate funds for many missions, charities, and nonprofit organizations.  The festival has grown to include more than 100 arts and crafts vendors, various Murrells Inlet restaurants and local food purveyors, children’s play area with inflatables, rides and fun events.

Announcing for 2017:  attendees will be able to shuttle back and forth from Inlet Square Mall parking lot (east side of mall behind Applebee’s) to Belin United Methodist Church.  In previous years, parking was available in the grass field north of the Belin’s Family Life Center, but it is unavailable this year due to the dredging project.  Passenger buses will run throughout the day providing free transportation to this year’s Blessing of the Inlet.  All Blessing attendees are encouraged to catch a free ride to and from your car in comfort this year.

The festival continues to be a free event with no admission or parking charge and is always held rain or shine. The festival is highlighted by the Blessing of the Inlet ceremony which starts at 11:30 AM. The blessing will be administered by the Reverend Dr. Mike Alexander and the Reverend Walter Cantwell.

Immediately following the “Blessing” ceremony, all visitors will be invited to “Stay to Pray” in the Belin sanctuary. Belin’s Stephen Ministers will be on hand.
