2 suspects caught in connection to Florence convenience store armed robberies

FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Florence Police have arrested two wanted suspects in a convenience store armed robbery in Florence, Tuesday morning.

According to Major Carlos Raines with the Florence Police Department, officers responded to the first armed robbery around 3:20 a.m. Tuesday at the Phoenix Mart, located at 2698 David H McLeod Boulevard. The female clerk inside the store explained to police that she was behind the counter when three black men, dressed in dark clothing, masks and hooded sweatshirts rushed into the store with guns and demanded money.

The clerk gave the gunmen money from the register, and the thieves stole merchandise from the store, adds Major Raines. The robbers ran away from the store on foot.

The second armed robbery occurred just over an hour later at 4:40 a.m. at the Kangaroo convenience store, located at 717 Second Loop Road. The male clerk told officers that three black men, dressed in dark clothing, masks and hooded sweatshirts came into the store and robbed the register at gunpoint. The masked trio fled the store on foot.
