TAYLORS, S.C. – Two teens have died after a crash that happened on Tanner Road Friday, June 3, according to the Greenville County Coroner.
The coroner says that 18-year-old William Barksdale was traveling south on Tanner Road when he went off the right shoulder, over-corrected, then went off the left shoulder and struck a tree.
Barksdale was taken to the hospital after the crash, and died at Greenville Memorial Trauma Center at about 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 5.
One passenger, 17-year-old Valentina Rojas, of Taylors, was trapped in the car and was taken by EMS to Greenville Memorial Hospital. She later died in the Trauma Center.
Rojas graduated from Wade Hampton High School on Wednesday, June 1, according to Greenville County Schools Spokesperson Beth Brotherton.
Another passenger was also taken by EMS to Greenville Memorial Hospital, troopers say.
Barksdale and his passengers were not wearing seat belts, according to Highway Patrol.
They say the wreck happened at about 10:15 p.m. on Friday and the road was blocked for a long period of time.
There will be a car wash at Zaxby’s on Wade Hampton Blvd. around 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11 to collect money for the families of both victims.
