NORTH CHALRESTON, SC (WCBD) – James Douglas Wolfe has been charged with Unlawful Conduct Towards a Child after police say he excessively beat a two-month-old child, resulting in the toddler being admitted to the Medical University of South Carolina for a broken collar bone, two broken legs, six broken ribs, cuts inside its mouth, and bruises covering its body.
According to an affidavit, those injuries occurred between January 26, 2016, and March 23, 2016. On March 23, 2016, North Charleston Police responded to the Summerville Medical Center in reference to a toddler with serious injuries.
The child, suffering from multiple broken bones, had to be transported to MUSC.
A doctor at the Medical University told police the fractures are in different stages of healing, meaning the injuries occurred at different times and not all in one incident.
During a interview, the child’s mother told police she noticed the child cry when it’s around Wolfe. She further stated she witnessed him throw the baby on the coach, squeeze the baby, and heard audible cracking.
After being read his Miranda Rights, Wolfe admitted to throwing the child, excessively squeezing the child, dropping the child, and hitting the child at least once.
Wolfe received a $100,000 bond.
