2 men each shot in a leg in Lumberton, police say

Two men were each shot in the leg in Lumberton in two different incidents — one of which was a home invasion — on Friday, police say.

The first shooting happened around 5:15 pm while a 72-year-old man was at his home in the 200 block of Carolina Avenue, said Capt. Terry W. Parker of the Lumberton Police Department.

The man told police that someone broke into his house and demanded money.

During a struggle with the home invasion suspect, the homeowner was shot in his leg, Parker said.  The man’s injuries were not life-threatening.

There is currently no suspect that has been identified, but police are continuing to investigate.

The next leg shooting happened just before 9 pm when a man told police he was crossing Crandlemire Road near Plainview Drive.

The man told police that he was shot in his leg and that he did not see who shot him.

The man’s injuries were also not life-threatening, police said.
