Two people were arrested and charged after drugs, guns, and money were seized from a house in the Myrtle Beach area.

Captain John Harrelson, with the Horry County Police Department, says Benquan Elijah Reed and Tavarus Kendal Britton were arrested and charged after a narcotics investigation and search.

Reed is charged with one count of possession of a pistol by certain persons unlawful and one count of possession of heroin, Harrelson also says. Britton is charged with one count of possession of cocaine, one count of possession of crack cocaine for a second offense, one count of possession of a pistol by certain persons unlawful, and distribution of cocaine for a second offense.

The HCPD Narcotics and Vice Unit executed a search warrant as part of a narcotics investigation on Highgrove Ct. on Monday, according to Harrelson. The following items were seized during the search: 2.04 grams of cocaine, 2.85 grams of crack cocaine, 2.51 grams of heroin, a Walther 9MM handgun, a Point Man .45 handgun, and $784.00 in cash.

According to an HCPD police report, Britton was in possession of about two grams of “a white powder substance that appears to be crack cocaine” and Reed was in possession of about 2.5 grams of “a tan powder substance that appears to be heroin.”

The report also says the Walther 9MM handgun was checked through NCIC and was found to be entered as stolen by the Myrtle Beach Police Department.

Both suspects were taken to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center, according to the report.
