The Florence Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting that left one person injured.

Maj. Michael Nunn, the department’s Public Information officer, says 19-year-old Jamone Somaure Legette, of Florence, was arrested on Wednesday. Legette is charged with three counts of attempted murder, two counts of discharging a firearm into a vehicle, one count of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent felony.

The shooting happened near the intersection of Second Loop Road and Mayfair Terrace around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to Nunn. Legette is accused of firing multiple rounds from a gun at a vehicle leaving a nearby apartment complex and striking the vehicle. No one in this vehicle was hurt, but the driver of a second vehicle was struck by a bullet. This victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. No additional information on this victim or their condition is available. A passenger in the second vehicle was also struck by shattering glass, but they didn’t require medical treatment.

Nunn also says a third vehicle may have been struck by a bullet, but no injuries were reported.

Legette has been booked into the Marion County Detention Center four times since July 2017, according to center booking records. He was booked on April 2 for third degree assault and battery by mob, on February 28 for possession of a weapon during a violent crime and armed robbery, on October 12 for receiving stolen goods with a value more than $2,000 but less than $10,000, and on July 31 for grand larceny with a value of more than $2,000 but less than $10,000.
