LAURINBURG, NC (WBTW) – The Scotland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 17-year-old high school student, according to Captain Mitch Johnson.
Captain Johnson says deputies responded to a home on Hasty Road in Laurinburg at 10:58 p.m. Monday night. Kendrick McGirt, a student at Scotland High School, died at the home, adds Captain Johnson.
Investigators are seeking persons of interest in McGirt’s death, but Captain Johnson says the manner in which the teen died has not been released.
The Scotland County Coroner’s Office will rule on the cause of McGirt’s death, Captain Johnson confirms. The investigation is ongoing.
