MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A car crash on 17 Bypass near Palmetto Pointe Boulevard has southbound lanes closed Thursday evening as emergency crews work to clear the scene.
South Carolina Department of Transportation says the two southbound lanes on 17 Bypass just past the Backgate are closed. The crash occurred around 6:22 p.m. Cars are being routed into the turning lane at Palmetto Pointe to get around the crash.
Thursday, and South Carolina Highway Patrol reports the wreck does involve injuries, but it is not clear at this point how many people are hurt or the extent of their injuries.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible as crews work to assist victims and clear the scene.
