A teenager was shot during a possible home invasion in the Pleasant Hill area of Georgetown County on Wednesday.

According to a post on the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page, deputies are responding to the report of a home invasion on County Line Road.

“A 13-year-old male told deputies two suspects forced entry into a residence and shot him,” says the post. “The victim is being transported to a hospital for treatment of a single gunshot wound.”

The Sheriff’s Office tells us two hours passed before the victim notified authorities of the incident. The victim reported that the suspects took his cell phone.

Deputies with the GCSO responded to the 19000 block of County Line Road in the Andrews area around 4:41 p.m. on Wednesday in reference to a 13-year-old who had been shot about two hours before the call, according to an incident report from the GCSO. The caller stated she was the victim’s aunt.

Upon arriving, deputies met with the caller, family members on scene, and the victim, who was in the aunt’s home sitting on the couch, the report says. The victim was awake and aware, and had a towel wrapped around the mid-section of his left thigh. A deputy removed the towel to check the injury and saw “an apparent gun shot entry wound on the outer portion of his mid thigh.”

The victim reportedly stated that he was at his home when he heard what sounded like someone kick in the back door, the report also says. He said two people then entered his room and one of the people showed a handgun and shot him in the leg. The two suspects then reportedly took the victim’s game system, video games, and cell phone, and then left the residence through the back door, fleeing on foot down County Line Road southbound.

The victim described the suspects as wearing black clothing and black ski masks, according to the report. He stated that both were black males and he could tell this because they weren’t wearing gloves. He also reportedly said the suspects were about 6-feet tall and slim built, and that they appeared to be young in age. The report says the victim could not explain how he was able to tell this other than “they seemed really young.”

The victim then reportedly stated he went to the bathroom, wrapped his leg with a towel, and then returned to his room where he took a nap. He also reportedly said after about two hours, he walked to his aunt’s house, where he made contact with her and her son.

The report adds that deputies spoke with the aunt and her son. The aunt reportedly told deputies that she had just arrived home about 15 minutes before hearing a knock on her front door around 4 p.m. She said she opened the door to see her nephew, the victim, standing with a towel wrapped around his leg, asking that she call 911 or take him to a hospital because he had been shot by someone who broke into his home about two hours before. The aunt then reportedly sat the victim on the couch and called 911 and the victim’s parents. The aunt’s son reportedly gave the same story to deputies.
