Timmonsville police have made an arrest in connection to a deadly shooting Saturday night that claimed the life of a 12-year-old girl.
Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken identified the little girl as Fantasia Shyann Jackson. He says the shooting happened at around 11:30 p.m. and Jackson was taken to the hospital where she later died.
According to Timmonville Police Chief Billy Brown, the shooting happened on Byrd and Tanyard Streets. He says Cedric Young has been arrested in connection to the case. Young is being charged with assault and battery in the third degree and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
Brown tells us Young got into a fight at a party on White Street in Timmonsville. Brown says Young “shot up” the house after he got beat up in that fight.
Someone from that party then went searching for Young and found him on Tanyard Street. That person then started shooting and that is when Jackson was hit. Police are searching for that person as the suspect in Jackson’s death. However that suspect’s name is not being released at this time.
Brown says more arrests are expected as there are more people of interest officers are trying to locate.
