The Horry County Board of Education recognized 12 students for having perfect attendance in grades 1-5, 1-8, and 1-11 at its meeting last week.
Annually, the School Board recognizes perfect attendance for cumulative years at the elementary, middle and high school levels.
One student was honored for having perfect attendance for all 11 grades of school so far, officials said.
Alexander Thomas Weshefsky of Carolina Forest High was recognized for having perfect attendance in grades 1-11, or 1,980 days without an absence. He was presented a plaque and a monetary award of $100.
Five students were recognized for perfect attendance in grades 1-8, or 1,440 without an absence. They are: Isabelle Osorio, Carolina Forest High; Alexis Joelle Lennon, Loris High; Charlie Danielle Watts, Myrtle Beach High; Chanel Destiny Cox, North Myrtle Beach High, and Ashton Ozell Newman, St. James High. Students with perfect attendance in grades 1-8 were presented certificates and a monetary award of $50.
Six students were recognized for perfect attendance in grades 1-5, or 900 days without an absence. They are: Jordan Calap Peavy, Aynor Middle; Esteban Charles Cruz-Turner, Conway Middle; William Randall Broughman, Conway Middle; Isabella Grace Bulleman, Forestbrook Middle; Corteria Dilasha Chestnut, Loris Middle; and Jonah Edwin Buck, St. James Middle. Students with perfect attendance in grades 1-5 were presented medals and certificates.
