1 dead after shooting in Darlington County

One person is dead after a shooting in Darlington County on Saturday. 

The shooting happened around 11:20 p.m., according to Lt. Robert Kilgo with the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office. One person was shot and driven from the scene to a convenience store parking lot at Timmonsville Highway and Hoffmeyer Road. The person died from his injuries. 

Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee identified the person killed as 18-year-old Jerome Robinson of Florence. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

We, along with the US Marshals task force, have arrested a subject in relation to last night’s fatal shooting and, we will release more information later,” Darlington County Sheriff Tony Chavis said in a statement.

Sheriff Chavis also said more information is expected to be released on Monday, including the suspect’s identity.

The Darlington Sheriff’s Office and coroner’s office are investigating.
