CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Horry County Fire Rescue, Conway Fire, and Horry County Police responded to a house fire on Peace Court in Conway just before 11:30 Monday night. That’s located between Highways 501 and 378.
News13 has learned at least one person died in the house fire. Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler says an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday and they will release the name of the victim once their family has been notified.
HCFR Chief Joey Tanner tells News13 the home was fully involved when they arrived and is a total loss. Battalion Chief Brian VanAernem said the two people who survived the fire were alerted by a working smoke detector and were able to get out of the home by jumping from a second floor window. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler identified the victim as 55-year-old William Schaidt of Conway.
Chief Tanner says they are working with the Horry County Police Department to determine a cause and more information will be available Tuesday morning.
