CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) – Charleston police are investigating after one man was killed and a second wounded in a shooting at a playground in the city’s James Island suburbs.

Police tell local media outlets that the shooting happened around 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Police spokesman Charles Francis says one man was killed and a second taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The identities of the victims have not been released.

One man who was coaching a football game at the playground reported hearing six gunshots.

It was the 10th homicide this year in Charleston.
