LUMBERTON, NC (WBTW) – The City of Lumberton Police Department is investigating separate shootings from the weekend that left one man dead and another in the hospital.
According to a press release, police were called Saturday evening to Plainview Drive by 20-year-old Journey Kennedy. When police arrived, they found Kennedy shot and unresponsive. Kennedy died at the hospital.
A short time later, officers were called to another shooting on Freedom Drive. Officers found 27-year-old Patrick Smith has been shot multiple times while in the front yard of a home.
Smith was taken to the hospital with with life-threatening injuries, the release said.Investigators have reason to believe the two shootings are connected and are working to identify the suspect in these shootings.
