1 arrested for attempted murder after shooting incident in Loris

LORIS, SC (WBTW) – Tuesday Horry County police were called to Barts Road around 6:30 p.m. about a shooting incident.

On arrival, officers observed several people at the end of Barts Road and Hunter’s Trail yelling at each other, a release from Brandon Strickland with HCPD said.  The incident report says a male and female suspect had to be restrained by a person at the scene to avoid each other. The two were taken into custody.

The incident report says one individual was at the end of Durham Lane firing a handgun. People came outside to tell the individual to stop shooting because there were children in the area. A witness told police that after that, she heard a car drive by and when she turned around she saw that one suspect was shooting,  another was hanging out of a car window firing shots at a group of people, and a third suspect was trying to hit one victim with the car.

One person was shot, but left the scene before police arrived, the report says.

Officers were able to identify Terrence Ray Cox as one of the suspects and he was taken into custody at his residence on Hunter’s Trail. Cox was charged with attempted murder, resisting arrest, and two charges of failure to appear.

He is currently being held at J Reuben Long Detention Center.
