GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left two injured.
The shooting took place Monday afternoon, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.
Horry County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a medical call for a gunshot wound at 9150 S Highway 701 at 2:52 p.m., according to Tony Casey with Horry County Fire Rescue.
No arrests have been made yet, Jason Lesley with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office said.
A white SUV parked in the middle of the lot appeared to have windows shot out, according to Georgetown County officials. Caution tape blocked the scene as officials covered the windows with trash bags.
Lesley said two people suffered gunshot wounds at a home on Exodus Drive in Plantersville. They used a personal vehicle to travel more than 5 miles to a store in Horry County where they stopped and called for medical services.
An employee at Pee Dee Grocery, Maxine Fordham, had just started her day at work when she saw the familiar face walk in the door. Fordham works with the mother of the two people who were shot.
“He said ‘me and my brother got shot,’” Fordham said. “His brother was outside because his brother collapsed on the ground.”
“I was really nervous because I could not even 9-1-1 at first,” Fordham said. “I’ve been here almost 2 years and nothing like this ever happened.”
The victims were taken to Grand Strand Medical Center for treatment.
