One dead after crash involving cement truck in Conway

CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – One person has died after a crash involving a cement truck in Conway.

William Dickey, 32, of the Myrtle Beach area, later died at Grand Strand Medical Center at 8:28 a.m. Dickey died of mass trauma from the crash, according to Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler.

The crash happened around 7:10 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Hwy 378 and Jerry Barnhill Blvd. in Conway.

Dickey was driving east on Hwy 378 while the cement truck was west, according to Master Trooper Brian Lee with the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Lee said Dickey was trying to pass another vehicle heading east when he hit the cement truck.

The driver of the cement truck was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
