GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) – A woman charged with abusing an 89-year-old woman in a South Carolina assisted living home says she has done this kind of work for 20 years and never hurt anyone.

Stephanie Ann Lowden told The Greenville News she is innocent and the woman attacked workers at Rolling Green Village as they tried to get her into the shower last month.

Greenville County deputies said the woman’s son set up a camera in his mother’s room and it taped the incident May 17. He turned the video over to police, who charged Lowden and Diana Garrett with abuse of a vulnerable adult Monday.

Deputies refused to show the newspaper the video or release the full police report.

Lowden says the assisted living home has a policy prohibiting taping in rooms.
